Here we are again, the third year I've comprised a playlist of music that represents this season to me. It's the only time of year where everything is so beautiful, yet it's dying. And it's great to have music to help remind you of those quiet moments, mellow and beautiful.

This playlist is very dear to me, when i was younger me and my dad never really communicated well, the job he had he was always on the road and i never understood why. He was really into music, that's all he did when he returned home. At the time i never really understood why we never communicated then finally it hit me music can be happy or sad, good or great and the way i felt about my dad was indescribable until i started listening to his vinyls. I recently read 1984 and Brave New World, and I'm writing a short story (amongst other things) to reflect my feelings. I don't have all these songs on my iPod, so I'm using this to make a playlist for the story.

As you can see, I still cannot get over the Perks of Being a Wallflower.
But these are songs that I would like to create into memoirs one day.

I'm not a fan of bloated playlists with a ton of filler. In honour of the upcoming hair metal musical Rock of Ages, here's what I consider to be the very best of the genre. I tried to stick to a high energy playlist, although I'm certainly not discounting the ballads! They'll be on a separate one I plan to do in the future. I also only featured one song from each band so as to provide a real cross-section. You have your well-known hits, headbanging anthems, and some underrated and often overlooked songs.

Although dismissed by some as fluffy or unimportant, this music featured some of the best guitarists and voices that rock has ever seen. Despite being clad in hilarious outfits and over-the-top makeup, these bands were truly talented and deserve to be remembered.

I know I am only 14, but these songs hold a very special place in my heart. Many of my memories are of me being little, waking up on a Saturday morning, hearing my dad making breakfast and playing these songs. I didn't know who sang them, but I loved each song. Now I know who sang them, and I don't love them any less. These songs make me feel all teary and happy when I listen to them. I hope you feel that way too.

I will continue to stipulate that the airport is THE simultaneous enemy and ally of love. Long distance love is the true embodiment of yearning to breathe. There is nothing so accessible as the feeling of ecstatic electricity when a pair of strange lips are once-again reunited in an airport concourse--it's palpable...and when hands touch and bodies meet, electricity ignites a fireworks display that would make Lady Liberty blush (c. 1976). It is as though the airport itself is taking on the role of relationship facilitator/equalizer; it has done nothing to earn such a title (my opinion).
